The EURO IV 4DF4-17E4 is a well-engineered 4-cylinder diesel from FAW Jiefang’s Wuxi Diesel Engine Plant, which we distribute exclusively worldwide through Wuxi Winteam Technology. This powerplant draws on over eight decades of proven engineering heritage—FAWDE has been building reliable diesel engines since 1943, and that experience shows in every component.

Engine Architecture & Design

This is a straightforward 4-cylinder in-line design with direct injection—no unnecessary complexity, just solid engineering principles applied properly. The 110mm bore and 125mm stroke give you 4.75 litres of displacement, which hits the sweet spot for commercial work. We’ve gone with 2 valves per cylinder because reliability trumps complexity every time, and this configuration has proved itself in countless applications over the years.

The turbocharging system with intercooling ensures optimal air density for efficient combustion, whilst the common rail fuel injection system provides precise fuel metering across all operating conditions. This combination delivers the sort of responsive power delivery that commercial operators depend upon.

Performance Variants

Three distinct power configurations cater to diverse operational requirements:

Standard Configuration: Delivers 98kW (131hp) at 2,500rpm with 450Nm of torque between 1,300-1,700rpm, ideal for general-purpose commercial applications.

Enhanced Configuration: Produces 112kW (150hp) at 2,500rpm with 510Nm torque, perfect for demanding urban delivery work.

High-Performance Configuration: Generates 127kW (170hp) at 2,300rpm with substantial 600Nm torque output, suited for heavy-duty applications requiring maximum pulling power.

Environmental Compliance

Now, about those emission standards—this engine handles EURO IV requirements using SCR technology, which is proven kit. The system injects urea solution upstream of a catalyst, converting NOx into harmless nitrogen and water. It’s the same approach that’s worked successfully across Europe for years, and frankly, it’s more reliable than some of the alternatives we’ve seen.

Smoke emissions remain impressively low at ≤0.5 m⁻¹, whilst fuel consumption holds steady at 202g/kW·h across all power variants. The acoustic signature stays below 94dB(A), making it suitable for urban operations where noise restrictions apply.

Construction & Reliability

Built to withstand demanding commercial use, the engine weighs 480kg (excluding aftertreatment system) and measures 935×720×940mm. This compact footprint allows for flexible installation in various chassis configurations whilst maintaining excellent accessibility for routine maintenance.
